BIKE TOUR ON THE EUGANEAN HILLS

An itinerary to discover villas, castles and villages in the area of the Euganean Hills Park and at the gates of the Euganean Spas, the oldest in Europe.

Starting from Villa Pisani in Monselice, directly connected to the Euganean Hills Ring E2, we will pass through Arquà Petrarca, where the famous poet spent the last years of his life, one of the villages in the center of the Euganean Hills that still maintains intact an ancient medieval charm.

Then we will arrive in Valsanzibio, a hamlet of Galzignano Terme, where there is the Garden of Valsanzibio created by the Barbarigo family 350 years ago, as a solemn vow to God to defeat the Plague of 1630, also called the “Little Versailles of the Euganean Hills”.

We will pass a stretch of the Euganean Hills cycle path and go in the direction of Battaglia Terme, an ancient river port: a linear route that allows you to admire spectacular views, such as the view dominated by the Catajo Castle and Villa Selvatico Sartori.

 

WALKING TOUR to the DISCOVERY of MONSELICE

Visit made only outdoors, (with the exception of the Parish Church of Santa Giustina and the Oratory of San Giorgio).

Going back even further into the past, retracing the last 7000 years, you can discover that it was also the land of the Romans, the land of the Lombards and many other peoples and families, as well as world-famous personalities, who in various eras have loved it and chosen it as an exclusive city in which to leave their “signature”.

The visit will start from the Palazzo della Loggetta, today’s Monselice tourist office. After discovering where the name of the city comes from and admiring the beating heart of the city, we will begin the ascent of the hill of the Rocca, carefully admiring all the architectural, artistic and natural elements present.

Then, opting for a romantic descent of the hill, the walk will continue towards the two main arteries of the center, where the major commercial attractions are located, and then continue towards the Bisatto canal, the ancient “highway” of Padua and Venice. There will be interesting “discoveries” related to places and famous people of the past and present and above all, it will be an opportunity to enjoy the view of the city center, from a completely unexpected perspective …

Both guided tours will be FREE (including: licensed guide service by bike, guided tour) and will end in the garden of Villa Pisani where we will make a toast all together to celebrate the opening of the new Bike Point of Villa Pisani.
